Itinerary

Humantay Lake Full Day

Our day-long expedition to Humantay Lake commences bright and early, as we collect you from your Cusco hotel at approximately 4 a.m. Your tour guide and driver will accompany you in private transport, embarking on a journey that kicks off with a hearty breakfast stop in Mollepata. This nourishing meal is essential to fuel our spirits for the impending trek. We then proceed onward to Soraypampa, situated at an elevation of 3,920 meters, where we find the trailhead. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to glimpse the Sky Camp, featuring its distinctive domed accommodations set against the backdrop of the awe-inspiring Salkantay and Humantay mountains.

After a brief respite, we’ll prepare ourselves for the exhilarating Humantay Lake hike. Our adventure begins with an uphill climb lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, traversing enchanting landscapes framed by breathtaking mountains. Although the trek’s duration may be relatively short, its intensity should not be underestimated, as we ascend a total of 350 meters to reach our ultimate destination: the ethereal Humantay Lake, perched at an elevation of 4,200 meters above sea level.

Upon arrival at the lake, prepare to be captivated by the majestic panorama before you. The emerald waters of the lake cast a mesmerizing spell, encircled by a colossal glacier and rugged, snow-clad peaks. You’ll have ample time to savor the scenery, capture photographs, and explore the immediate vicinity of the lake. For the intrepid souls among us, a daring dip in the icy waters is an option worth considering.

Once our group is ready to bid farewell to this enchanting locale, we’ll descend to Soraypampa and the Sky Camp, where a delectable and well-deserved lunch awaits. Following our meal, we’ll embark on our return journey to Cusco, anticipating our arrival at around 5 p.m.
