Itinerary
- Your day begins early with departure from your hotel or designated meeting point in Lima. Traveling south along the Pan-American Highway, you’ll witness the striking scenery of Peru’s coastal desert—vast, open landscapes where golden sands stretch toward the horizon and the Pacific Ocean occasionally appears alongside the road. Throughout the journey, your guide will share insights into the region’s geography, history, and the unique ecosystem that defines this part of the country.
- Upon arrival at the port of Paracas, you’ll board a modern speedboat for a guided excursion to the extraordinary Ballestas Islands. As you cruise across the ocean, the first highlight is the mysterious Candelabra geoglyph, an enormous figure etched into the desert hillside whose origins remain a topic of debate. Continuing toward the islands, you’ll encounter thriving colonies of sea lions resting and playing on rocky formations, Humboldt penguins nesting in their natural habitat, and large numbers of pelicans, cormorants, boobies, and other native seabirds soaring overhead. The two-hour boat tour offers fantastic opportunities for wildlife observation and photography, all set against dramatic coastal cliffs and deep blue waters. After returning to shore, you’ll have free time to enjoy breakfast or take a leisurely stroll along Paracas’ seaside boulevard.
- The journey then continues inland toward Huacachina, a natural oasis nestled among towering sand dunes near the city of Ica. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to explore the palm-lined lagoon, capture memorable photos, and soak in the tranquil yet surreal desert atmosphere that makes this destination so unique.
- Soon, the adventure intensifies with an exhilarating dune buggy and sandboarding experience across the massive dunes surrounding Huacachina. Driven by professional drivers, the high-powered buggies climb steep ridges and descend sweeping slopes, delivering both adrenaline and spectacular panoramic views of the vast desert landscape. You’ll also have the opportunity to try sandboarding, gliding down golden dunes in one of Peru’s most exciting outdoor activities. The combination of speed, scenery, and pure desert beauty makes this experience an unforgettable highlight of your trip.
- After an action-filled afternoon, you’ll begin the return journey to Lima, arriving in the evening with drop-off at your hotel or designated location, bringing a memorable day of coastal wildlife and desert adventure to a close.
