Cancellation and Refund Policy
At CAMS TRAVEL PERU, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may force you to change or cancel your travel plans. However, because we must prepay local operators, government entities, and transportation services well in advance to secure your reservations, we strictly adhere to the following cancellation and refund policy.
1. How to Cancel Your Trip
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to our official contact address. The date we receive the written cancellation will determine the cancellation fee applied. Phone calls or messages via social media are not accepted as formal cancellation notices.
2. Standard Cancellation Fees
Unless otherwise specified in your custom itinerary, the following sliding scale applies to the cancellation of standard tours and travel packages:
Cancellation 30 days or more before departure: The initial advance payment (deposit) is entirely non-refundable and will be retained to cover administrative costs and prepaid third-party fees. You will not be billed for the remaining balance.
Cancellation 15 to 29 days before departure: A cancellation fee equal to 50% of the total total cost applies. If you have only paid the deposit, you will be required to pay the difference to cover this penalty.
Cancellation 14 days or less before departure (or No-Shows): A cancellation fee of 100% of the total tour cost applies. No refunds will be issued, and full payment is required.
3. Strictly Non-Refundable Items
Please be aware that certain services are governed by strict Peruvian government regulations and third-party company policies. The following items are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable from the moment of booking, regardless of when you cancel:
Inca Trail Permits: The Peruvian Ministry of Culture does not offer refunds or date changes for Inca Trail permits under any circumstances.
Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu Tickets: Entrance tickets to all government-run archaeological sites are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
Train Tickets: Tickets with PeruRail or Inca Rail are non-refundable once issued.
Domestic Flights: Airline tickets are subject to the specific airline’s cancellation policy, which generally means they are non-refundable.
4. Cancellations Due to Force Majeure
CAMS TRAVEL PERU is not liable for failure to perform our obligations if such failure is as a result of Acts of God (including fire, flood, earthquake, storm, or other natural disasters), extreme weather conditions, landslides, civil unrest, political strikes, roadblocks, or government-imposed travel restrictions.
If a tour must be canceled or significantly altered due to Force Majeure, we will do everything in our power to offer alternative itineraries or dates.
However, we cannot issue refunds for services already paid to third parties that we cannot recover. We strongly advise clients to rely on their travel insurance to claim compensation for disruptions caused by Force Majeure.
5. Cancellation by CAMS TRAVEL PERU
In the rare event that we are forced to cancel a tour for internal operational reasons (not related to Force Majeure), we will offer you a full and immediate refund of all payments made to us, or the option to book an alternative tour of equal or greater value.
6. Refund Processing
If you are eligible for a partial refund based on the terms above, the refund will be processed within 10 to 15 business days from the date the cancellation is confirmed by our team.
Refunds will be issued using the original method of payment whenever possible.
Please note: Any international bank transfer fees, credit card processing fees, or currency exchange losses incurred during the refund process will be deducted from the final refund amount.
7. Travel Insurance Required
To protect yourself against these cancellation penalties, we require all travelers to purchase comprehensive travel insurance before their trip. Your policy should cover “cancel for any reason” (CFAR), medical emergencies, and travel disruptions to ensure your investment is fully protected.
